Machi-ko in Raramuri means “Know-Be”

To know implies acquiring knowledge of something in order to achieve a certain action; To be means, from the essence of each human being, to exist. Therefore, To Know-To-Be expresses the consciousness of the human being in its

existence and its connection with the Universe, as well as knowledge of it.

The main objective of Machi-ko, AC is to raise awareness among vulnerable communities through training in self-sustaining development techniques, preserving and respecting customs and traditions.

Since its creation, Machi-ko AC (April 2012) has had an impact on indigenous and mestizo communities, as well as on groups classified as vulnerable in the Sierra Tarahumara region of the State of Chihuahua. This has been achieved through courses and workshops held in communities such as Gumisachi, La Laguna, Talayotes de los Volcanes, San Juanito, Baqueachi, Monterde, Naqueachi, Ocoviachi, Rahobi, Tierra Blanca, Yeposo, Cusarare, El Barro, Cocherare, and Bajíos de Pitorreal, among others.

We can conclude that in 7 uninterrupted years, MACHI-KO, AC. (Know-How-To), with the adaptation as a demonstrative model of the HOUSE-SCHOOL, has provided the opportunity for many attendees to confirm that it is possible to have harvests in winter and summer, that there are many crops such as forest fruits, artichokes, asparagus that although in the area they have been unknown there is a market for their sale, that there is no excuse about space since vertical crops, in tubes, sacks or bottles give us the opportunity to have vegetables, strawberries and many more varieties. And on the other hand, the Multifunctional Center "MACHI-NEWÁ" (Know-How) gives us the opportunity to see functioning systems, such as a larger-scale greenhouse, with fruit trees that are not from the area but where we already harvest fruits such as lemons and oranges. It also offers a vision of biointensive winter beds. It has allowed people to see that all of this is possible, with recycled materials. Even though there is no electricity or water, the "it can't be done," "it doesn't work," or "it's not possible here" are some of the phrases that we have been able to demonstrate are wrong. That "pasture" houses are viable and thermal, in addition to being easy and quick to build. That it is possible to coexist and respect animals, generating good quality food and derivatives.

Therefore, we invite more people to come and share their knowledge and experiences with us, as well as volunteers who are willing to offer their time, knowledge, and willingness to share. And, of course, we invite those willing to donate resources to be assured of the clarity and transparency with which we work on a daily basis.

"If I hear you, I understand; if I see myself, I learn." When theory goes hand in hand with practice, you can be certain that being learns and creates. This is our motivation: not only adults but also children and young people of all ages and backgrounds are capable of generating their own food, being sustainable and sustainable, and thus contributing to the growth of our Mexico. To begin with, we plant "a seed," not a grain of sand, because we know that with it, "There is a Harvest."
